RADIO IN SCHOOLS
Continuing with our theme of making learning fun, this project looks at the ways in which technology such as pod casting can be used to develop speaking and listening and then have an impact on the quality of writing.
The project is designed to be used by pupils in year 6 prior to transferring to secondary schools. Two secondary schools, Fairfield and The Bridge, will embark on a pod casting activity with pupils from their partner primary schools which will introduce them to the use of pod casting technology to develop their speaking, listening and writing skills. By creating small short term projects for teachers to use with their classes this project will enable all those staff and children involved to have a closer look at the way in which this technology can impact on their learning, whether that be through a topic based project or conducting surveys. We are also working with some of our schools to develop ways of using the technology to bridge the language divide.
We hope to make a difference to the challenging transition process from primary to secondary school by continuing the pod-casting activities into terms 1 and 2 of the new academic year in their secondary schools.
This will provide all schools with a set of activities that can be used by others in a high quality project that will enable secondary schools and their partner primaries to work together on innovative transition projects.
